Early Summer in Cape May



Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, and we can tell you for sure the town was buzzing with people. A visit to Cape May post Memorial Day, is perfect for those looking for some quiet beach time.

 

 

Around town there are so many great activities and things to do.

Starting Friday, June 1st, the Spring Sidewalk Sale starts at the Washington Street Mall. This is an entire weekend event, so if you cannot make it on Friday, try again on Saturday or Sunday! What else can be better than taking a stroll on the mall and buying Cape May souvenirs?!

 

 

 

If you are a strawberry lover, you must stop over at Wilbraham Park for the anticipated Strawberry Festival. The festivities start at 9:00 am until 5 pm, on Saturday, June 2nd.   You and your family can enjoy strawberries in both edible and non-edible forms.   While there, stop by the Homestead booth and meet our Sales Team!  Get your photo taken at our Giant Strawberry Photo Area.   JUST….in case of rain the rain date is Sunday June 3rd.

 

 

 

On Sunday, June 3rd, Aleathea’s Restaurant is organizing a Champagne Jazz Brunch starting at 10:00 am. While you enjoy a delicious brunch, you will listen to Mary Lou Newman and Sonny Troy perform music from the Great American Songbook. Also, on June 3rd, Cape May Restaurant Week begins! Restaurants around town will have prix fixe delicious set menus at a reduced early season selection. You can make every night of the week a date night.

 

 

 

During the week, wander throughout town and listen to great musicians perform live. On Monday, June 4th, you can listen to Marnie and Nate play at Harry’s Grille and Jon Pruitt will be playing the piano a that Merion Inn, order their twice baked potato mmmm… mmm….. On Tuesday, June 5th, the New York Chamber Ensemble is playing at the Episcopal Church of the Advent. The concert starts at 5 pm and lasts until 8 pm.

 

 

 

On Wednesday, June 6th, the amazing The Honeyhawks play at Harry’s Grille on the deck (great view, great food) and Dean Schneider tinkles the ivories at the Merion Inn. The highlight of the week is on Thursday, June 7th. The Squares (fronted by our Rental Manager Debra Donahue) are playing at Nauti Spirits Distillery from 5:30-8: 30 pm. The Squares play an eclectic mix of originals, covers, with not just a few shenanigans.

 

 

 

 

On Saturday, June 9th and Sunday June 10th, take a stroll on the Cape May Promenade for one of the best Promenade Craft Shows. Check out the amazing handmade goods crafted by local artists. If you want a special and unique piece of Cape May, this is the time to get it.

 

 

 

 

On Wednesday, June 13, the members of the Bay Atlantic Symphony are having a mini concert at The Carriage House Cafe and Tearoom on Washington Street. Prior to the concert, you can enjoy a delicious tea luncheon and the event also includes a wine tasting by Cape May Winery.
