We all get excited for Memorial Day Weekend, the traditional beginning to summer (especially important in an area rich in attractions and seaside enjoyment). But we should also remember why most of us get to enjoy this extended weekend and the liberties that come with the pride and honor of calling ourselves “American”. It is because of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our country, our freedoms, and all we tout as as our national ideals.
While you’re visiting Cape May this weekend remember those who have served and sacrificed – perhaps a parent, grandparent, friend, or a name on a stone. Here is a list of Memorial Day events to attend for honoring these brave souls:

11:45AM – US Coastguard Rifle Salute and Flower Boat Launching, Gurney Street Beach in Cape May
